Keep NGO workers from burning out through Surveys
NPOwer 24-hour helpline for NPOs that supports mental health says that Covid-19 visibly influenced on NGOs and other community organizations by affecting the mental health and well-being of South African residents. To assess people’ needs and stave off these issues NGO Anxiety Survey was launched.
Two-thirds of NPO professionals, who are at the forefront of community service throughout quarantine, faced significant stress at work and at home and therefore show several symptoms of psychological distress. The survey results already showed that 37% of respondents answered that they are calling NPO at helpline to discuss stress and anxiety. 73% of NGO respondents (volunteers and staff) turned up having risen stress levels over the past 6 months.
Teens’ financial literacy in America
Free financial educations to more than three hundred Los Angeles County and Orange County middle school and high school students were provided by 17-year-old Dylan Jin-Ngo from Huntington Beach. Dylan’s first investment was made in sixth grade thanks to his aunt, who gave him Sony stock. From that moment, he promised himself to invest his time into the development of financial literacy that will equip students with financial knowledge for the real world.
Now founder of the Youth Investors Corp. is partnered with nine Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the two counties. This program is entirely voluntary for school districts to participate in. And if approved in January, the financial literacy pilot program would be launched for the 2022–23 school year and last until 2028.
Social Media scammers
In Southwest Florida, someone set up a fake Facebook page and began collecting money from other businesses. Nowadays, especially with Covid-19 time and working from home, we see the growing number of internet scammers, who are taking advantage of each other. In most cases, both sides lose. This is exactly what happened in Lee Country just a few weeks ago.
Healthy Earth Organization was planning a community event in Italy and noticed someone created Facebook page and started illegally raising funds. Scammers were contacting number of companies, inviting them to take part in the events, asking for cash payments. Luckily, it was noticed fast and Facebook removed scammers account from the network.
Planet warming — long term trend
Freezing -78 degrees (-61 degrees Celsius) was the coldest in history since 1957 at the Amundsen-Scott South Polar Station in April-September 2021. Frigid weather did not change the fact of constant heat against the background of exacerbation of extreme weather conditions.
To track temperature change in 2014 Climate Action Tracker was launched by the research scientist group that is regularly scanning changes in climate globally. So far there is no good news and the result says that the temperature is going to grow if countries don’t cut the gas emission, etc.
To change the course of actions United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) is scheduled to take place from 31 October to 12 November 2021 in Glasgow, under the presidency of the UK. It will be attended by climate activists from across the world, such as Greta Thunberg, and important decisions will be made there.
